EDUCATION
Ms. Greer is a cum laude graduate of the University
of Denver where she double majored in Journalism and
Human Communication and received numerous University
awards for her outstanding academic performance in
writing and speech.
Upon receiving her B.A., Ms. Greer attended the
University of Miami where she graduated in 1998 with her Juris Doctor degree. During her tenure at UM, Ms. Greer
participated in mock trial competitions and UM's
litigation skills program and worked as a certified
legal intern for the Ft. Lauderdale State Attorney's
Office. Ms. Greer was a staff writer for the law school
newspaper and a student speaker finalist for her
graduating class. Additionally, Ms. Greer was awarded a
fellowship in youth law and completed a federal
internship in the U.S. District Court, Southern District.
EXPERIENCE
A member of the Florida Bar since 1999, Ms. Greer
embarked on her legal career as a staff attorney to
several of Polk County's Circuit Court judges where she
refined her legal research and writing skills and
acquired
insight into the operation of the justice system. Wanting to gain trial experience, Ms. Greer
then became an Assistant State Attorney where she earned
significant jury trial experience managing a demanding
case load as a felony line attorney. As a prosecutor for
the Tenth Judicial Circuit, Ms. Greer tried cases
ranging from driving offenses to armed robbery
and obtained convictions resulting in life sentences in
numerous cases.
Ms. Greer departed from the State Attorney's Office
in 2003 to experience private practice where she worked
as an associate attorney for two firms before opening
her own firm in 2005. During her years in private
practice, Ms. Greer has defended hundreds of defendants
charged with crimes and has also developed a significant
civil litigation practice.
