Get Peace of Mind with a Domestic Violence Injunction

Victims of domestic violence, or even those who reasonably suspect they will become a victim soon, have a legal recourse in the form of a court-ordered injunction which can be filed against their abuser. This can protect you from further harm whether your abuser still lives with you or not. You should retain legal help to file with the court from a trained Bartow family law attorney to have your best chance at a successful injunction processed quickly.

For over 20 years, my firm, Advocate Law Firm, P.A. has worked to resolve family law matters for my clients through understanding and vigorous advocacy. I make myself available to answer client questions on weekends and evenings because I understand when you are hurt and worried over what to do, you can’t wait to get answers. While most attorneys charges an hourly rate when it comes to injunction relief, my firm charges a flat fee until your trial or evidentiary hearing is over.

What can an injunction do?

If the judge perceives an immediate and present danger to you, they can issue a temporary injunction without the abuser even having to be present. If the defendant is asked to participate in a hearing, the judge can hear a contested hearing.

An injunction can have the power to do the following:

  • Restrain the accused from committing acts of domestic violence
  • Order the defendant to participate in treatment, intervention, or counseling
  • Award exclusive use of the shared dwelling to the victim
  • Providing temporary support for minor children until the injunction expires
  • Any other relief the court deems necessary to protect the victim

Violating a court-ordered injunction is a misdemeanor which carries up to a year a jail. Violations include refusing to leave the shared dwelling, being within 500 feet of the victim’s school, job, or residence, or coming within 100 feet of the victim’s vehicle whether occupied or not.

  • I couldn't have asked for more!

I just want to publicly show my gratitude to Ms. Salvia and the rest of the team that worked on my recent case. I really felt I was represented well by Ms. Salvia and she took the lead in making strong points for my case. She was able to properly vocalize what I needed and look out for things that I didn't even consider. She is very experienced. I couldn't have asked for more. Thank you so much for help and professionalism.

  • Martha and the rest of the team constantly kept me in the loop of all that was occurring

There was never a time that I was alone in my divorce process. The staff/team was in contact communication with me. Any questions, concerns or issues I may have had, they were front and center ready to help me through the process and educate me on what the next steps were. Divorce in and of itself is a very emotional, trying and frustrating process. Martha and the rest of the team constantly kept me in the loop of all that was occurring, what was needed, any changes that were coming and how to properly handle them. Thank you so much for making a stressful and life changing event, easier to navigate.

I don't typically write reviews however, in this "case" it is warranted. Having gone through a protracted and tumultuous divorce lasting almost five years would leave any living and breathing human hating lawyers even their own. well, I must say I am left with a gratitude for all the hard work, patience and guidance given me throughout my process. I would recommend Melissa Wilson to anyone that is looking for Honesty, integrity and a fighter where it counts... CASE CLOSED!!!! and so is mine. cant forget Martha her assistant, taking my calls always and listening to me vent. Thank you all in that office Sincerely Niko
